Rising Kindergarten – 1st grade

Our classes for young children are designed to build on their active imaginations while guiding them towards an understanding of how to portray characters in a story. In class, we play age appropriate theatre games, use our bodies to create animals and other characters, hear stories and act them out. The week will culminate in a short presentation.


Creative play

One-week, half-day sessions

Rising 1st – 3rd grades

Each week we explore a different theme, tell stories and make plays out of them. The class culminates in a small performance.


One-week, extended Day sessions

June 9-13  A Bug's World

You have to look closely but there’s a whole world below the grass.



June 16-20 Classic Fairy Tales

Poisoned apples, magic beans, and straw to gold are just some of the possibilities.

 

June 23-27  Under the Sea

A world under the waves, filled with mermaids, starfish, sharks and maybe a sea monster.

 

July 14 - 18 Magical Creatures

Imagine unicorns, fairies, elves and dragons, then bring them to life in a story.

 

July 21 - 25 The Mighty Jungle 

Lions, tigers, bears and more await you in the jungle, a place of mystery and wonder.

 

July 28 - Aug. 1 Princesses and Pirates

 Sail the high seas to far away lands where princesses rule.

 



Rising 4- 6 Grades

Classes for this age level develop their abilities to create complex characters and the skills to communicate those characters to an audience.


One, two and three week, full day sessions

June 2-6 (one week) fundamentals of Acting
$195

 A course for those interested in learning the basics of acting or in need of brushing up their skills. Through theatre-based games and exercises, learn the techniques that allow an actor to communicate a character and story to an audience.

 

June 9-13 (one week) Improvisation
$195 

Using improvisation games, learn to be creative on the spot. A good class for anyone wanting to improve their acting abilities or their presentation skills.

 

June 16-27 (two weeks) The Play’s The Thing
$350 

Work with others to choose themes, improvise ideas and develop a play from concept to performance. The class culminates in a presentation of work.

July 7-25 (Three weeks) Performance Training Academy: Musical Theatre                    
$500

The most comprehensive theatre training program for young people in Chattanooga, This intensive, three week program gives students training in voice, movement, acting, and musical performance, while guiding them in the creation of an original musical, based on a classic story. If you love the theatre and want to know more about it, this is the one for you. Two performances on the last day of class.

 

July 28-Aug. 1 (one week) Theatre Games
$195

Five days of play with a purpose. Theatre games are used to teach the valuable skills of stage work such as team building, communication, focus and creativity.



 

Rising 7th – 12th grades

Teen classes offer intensive instruction, providing for team-building and leadership experiences while engaging them in an intellectually challenging and age-appropriate environment.

One, two and three-week, full day sessions

June 2-13 (two weeks) Comedy
$350

Learn what it takes to make funny happen on stage, then use those skills to develop short comic sketches. There will be a presentation of work on the last day of class.



June 16-20 (one week) Acting Fundamentals
$195

An intensive, master class in movement and voice for the stage, acting, characterization and performance styles. Whether an amateur or a veteran, this course is a vital step in making you look and feel better on stage.

 

June 23-27 (one week) Improvisation

July 14-25 (two weeks)  Technical Theatre
$350 

Learn the art of theatrical design, techniques used for painting and building scenery, the use of lighting and sound equipment, then put them to use creating and running a show.  This workshop runs in conjunction with the Performance Training Academy



July 28- Aug. 1 (one week) Classic Cinema
$195 

Every great movie director started as a great movie watcher. In order to hone the skills of a performing artist you must have a visual vocabulary from which you can draw new work. Much of our visual vocabulary is found in the cinema of the past on hundred years. This class will view selected cinema classics and discuss what made them great.

 


Before and After Care

is available for all academy enrollees

                       Before care – 7:30AM-9:00AM $15 per week

                       After care 1 – 3:00PM – 5:30PM $25 per week

                       After care 2 - 4:00PM-5:30PM $15 per week

All Summer Academies run Monday - Friday

Lunch period for all extended and full-day students is 12:00 Noon – 12:45 PM. All students must supply their own lunch. Older students are allowed to leave the premises during lunch with parents’/guardians’ permission.


Reservations are held with a $100 non-refundable deposit with balance due two weeks before the beginning of class.

Class fees are as listed. No classes will be pro-rated.
