| Correcting an Error from Last Week's eNews Last week I made a big mistake. In writing about the people who have generously contributed to our Raise the Roof Capital Campaign (see the list below in this week's eNews), I omitted one Jacqueline Marschak. This was a big mistake because our Raise the Roof Capital Campaign wouldn't have gotten off the ground without Jacqueline; you see she was our very first major donor back in January of 2011 when we had our kick-off party in the main lobby. We are so grateful to Jacqueline Marschak for her leadership in giving to this campaign and for her generous support of all that goes on here at your Chattanooga Theatre Centre. So I send my deepest apology for an egregious oversight to the very generous Jacqueline Marschak who is a constant supporter of your Theatre Centre. Thank you, Jacqueline! - GQ |

One afternoon in the quiet reading room of the Mudie Public Library, ten strangers find they are simultaneously reading copies of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. One of the patrons begins to read the comic classic out loud. One by one, he coerces his fellow bookworms into assuming roles in the play and eventually they are thrown into the wild, Wilde world of identities (mistaken and taken). A new take on a long-time favorite. This week Thursday at 7 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm Talk-back immediately following the 8:00 pm performance this Friday, February 3. Don't miss this very original production directed and designed by R. Scott Dunlap, featuring: Jordan Coleman, Karen Henderson, Tarick Issa, Becki Jordan, Joanna Keeling, Joanna Key, Lebron Lackey, Anthony Mrotek, Stefanie Oppenheimer, and Thomas White. Check out this fun video "Stuff Oscar Wilde Says" Watch it and then share it with your friends online! Thanks to Lee Wright, Scott Dunlap and members of the cast and to Wadel & Associates for making it happen!

February is Black History Month
Support the Bessie Smith Cultural Center - especially during February. This month, they are featuring Works by Duncan. Duncan, a Brooklyn native and Chattanooga sculptor presents his investigations of creating objects in space that imply life. This exhibit is a glimpse into his works over the last decade. The works are on display all month. This Saturday (Feb 4), join Friends of African American Art (FAAA) at 6:30 pm to help the Hunter Museum choose a contemporary African American art work to become part of the collection. You must be a member of FAAA to vote on the purchase. This event takes place at the Hunter Museum, is free to FAAA members and $25 for non-members. On Sunday, February 12, there's another offering in the Songbook Series: Luther Vandross, featuring Harley Griffin- an evening of romance, delectable food, dancind and silky smooth ballads. |
| Raise the Roof As know, your Theatre Centre is in the process of a $1M capital campaign to replace our roof, our heating and air conditioning, install solar panels, as well as make improvements to our main lobby ceiling and window treatments, theatre seating, lighting, sound equipment, etc. so that your facility can be the best it can be! This way, we'll save money on electricity and be able to make our lobby space so beautiful that we'll generate much needed revenue by renting it out for meetings, parties, receptions and weddings more. We've raise over $400,000 so far. The family of the late Neil Miller, has requested that donations in memory of Neil be made to our Raise the Roof Capital Campaign. This is certainly fitting in that "The Little Theatre" was a second home to Neil. In fact, daughter Elizabeth tells me that Neil met her mother, Sandra, when Sandra and Neil were both in a production of Bus Stop in 1957. Memorial Contributions for Neil should be made payable to:Chattanooga Theatre Centre and sent to Chattanooga Theatre CentreRaise The Roof Capital CampaignPO Box 4023, Chattanooga, TN 37405 Make sure you note with your donation, that your contribution is in memory of Neil Miller. |
